Field Trip to Clermont's Sheep & Wool Showcase

I have quite a fondness for Clermont State Historic site, as Its the place Matthew and I were married. The ceremony was right next to the home on a blistering hot summer day in July. I love this place, its simple yet beautiful in its grandeur.

Well today when the April downpour relented for a bit, the boys and I ventured to this wondrous place for its Sheep and Wool showcase. It celebrates the agriculture that Chancellor Livingston wanted to showcase in its past.

I must give credit to my boys Gage 9 and Maxwell 6 for the camera work. I was off shopping for the store and gave them my camera and said "have fun!" I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do!

Knit Your Way To Spring Clean!

                                             by A.L. Stickle
, a photo by A.L. Stickle on Flickr.
With the hint of spring in the air, the urge to clean your home is here. I have devoted these next few weeks to Spring Clean Knitting!

As many Knitters and Crocheters fear with the onset of warmer weather means the needles and hooks are stashed away. Well not with this quick simple knitted cotton dish towel! You too can add a splash of fun and a creative vintage nod to your own kitchen. I borrowed the pattern from Canadian Living and you can find the pattern here.

I used 2 skeins of simple sugar and cream 100% cotton yarn at $2.29 each. Bottom is a variegated green and yellow and I topped it with a salmon pink.

T-Shirts are Coming Soon!

With the feel of spring in the air the arrival of Stickle's spring T's are coming. I'm not sure if you are aware that each one of these tees are screened by hand....my hand. Yes thats right Stickle's make there own tees. Heres the process:

1st pick the perfect fun shade that beckons fun and sun, Here I went for Cherry Red!

Next choose the right color ink, this can be tricky.
Earlier I burned or drew my screen design, a time laboring step but well worth it. You may only use one color ink at a time per screen and you must work quickly.

Here you can see some of the other material used...
Next we lay the screen on the tee and add some ink and screen print away!

Then you have your design! Thats how our tees are made, with lots of love and time and creativity!

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do creating them.

For more info on how to screen print and find supplies check out these sites:

Some of the first boxes of new yarn is arriving! Today I received a perfect little parcel from Paris France by Spin Span Spun. She spins & Hand dyes all her yarns, each ball is a singular work of art! I must admit I sat staring at them for quite a while just imagining what I could create.
Spin Span Spun is currently residing in France and selling her gorgeous yarn on Etsy, One of my Favorite places to shop. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do!

(sorry for neglecting the blog) It will be in the back of the store where there used to be an old garage, through the new red doors! The space will have a simple sitting spot, computer and printer, hand spun yarn, classic and gorgeous yarns, knitting gear and supplies. A few of the Yarns that will be available: Blue Sky Alpaca, Spud and Chloe, Madeline Tosh, Be Sweet, Shubiu, and many many more.  Hours are to be announced but I hope to be there a lot!

Sledding on New Years Day!

We brought in 2011 with some simple old fashion sledding fun. Of course a snowman was involved and Bella was able to join in on the adventure too!
